Tia Szczepanski is a pediatric ICU nurse who was diagnosed with severe aplastic anemia on 3/6/25. Tias chance for survival was contingent on receiving a bone marrow transplant which she received from her brother on 6/11/25. We were admitted on May 31st until July 18th in Boston. We are now 6 months post transplant and continue to receive care at Dana farber in Boston on monthly visits. Tia still continues to fight with graft vs host disease in her GI tract which happens when the donated cells attack the recipients body. The full recovery time for Tia is over a year and cannot work until that year mark.
